About Yoga for AS

Yoga for AS is an online movement platform supporting people living with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and other inflammatory arthritis conditions through accessible yoga, mobility, strength and community support.

A community platform grounded in both lived experience and years of working with hundreds of people living with inflammatory arthritis, Yoga for AS combines practical movement approaches with evidence-informed teaching to help people better manage pain, stiffness, fatigue and confidence in movement.

Alongside live online classes and an extensive virtual library, Yoga for AS aims to create a supportive space where people feel understood, empowered and less alone in navigating chronic inflammatory conditions.

Jamie Boder
Director of Yoga for AS | Yoga for AS Teacher

I’m a personal trainer and qualified yoga teacher specialising in working with people living with axial spondyloarthritis and other inflammatory arthritis conditions. Having been diagnosed with AS and Crohn’s disease over a decade ago, I combine lived experience with evidence-informed approaches to help people build strength, improve mobility and feel more confident in their bodies.

I work with clients both one-to-one and in group settings, focusing on long-term progression and sustainable movement rather than short-term rehabilitation alone. My approach aims to bridge the gap between physiotherapy and adaptable strength and mobility training that can support people through flares, remission and everyday life, whilst helping people better manage pain, stiffness and fatigue.

Jamie has completed additional study in strength and conditioning, nutrition and therapeutic yoga through Yoga for Arthritis®.

Alice Billerey
Yoga for AS Teacher | Yoga Therapist

I first came to yoga 15 years ago when a friend suggested it might good for the lower back pain and sciatica I was experiencing at the time. I was in my early 20’s and at this point I didn’t know I had AS. Despite not having a diagnosis I was immediately drawn to yoga as it had such a positive impact on how I felt. I went on to train as a yoga teacher and have now been teaching for 9 years. In that time I’ve worked with a wide demographic of people, all of which have taught me something about myself and deepened my appreciation of this practice.

Alice has been teaching yoga since 2016 and is an accredited yoga teacher and yoga therapist, with over 900 hours of training. Alice was initially drawn to the physicality of yoga, which allowed her to develop a deeper connection to her body. She soon discovered the joys of yoga beyond asana (posture) and recognises that pranayama (breath work), meditation, and yoga nidra (yogic sleep / relaxation) have played a huge role in her management of arthritis and anxiety.
